Dr. Sophia Durisko

Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Sophia Durisko is a registered Clinical Psychologist licenced to work with children and adolescents in the province of Ontario. Dr. Sophia completed her PhD in Clinical Developmental Psychology from the University of Guelph and completed her residency in a hospital setting at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (adolescent outpatient and inpatient units). She has been in private practice for the last 3 years and has dedicated the past 7 years to community mental health as a staff psychologist at Kinark Child and Family Services. Here, she has provided assessment, therapy, clinical consultation, training, and supervision in the Child and Youth Mental Health program.
Dr. Sophia has over 14 years of experience providing assessment and treatment to children and adolescents struggling with a range of presenting concerns, such as anxiety, OCD, depression, mood disorders, non-suicidal self-injury, emotional dysregulation, behavioral issues, parent-child relational difficulties, trauma, and learning challenges. Central to her orientation is a collaborative and strong therapeutic alliance driven by curiosity, empathy, and genuine positive regard for clients. She is extensively trained in the modality of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for adolescents (DBT-A) and kids (DBT-K). She is also passionate about providing parenting support and improving the quality of parent-child interactions. Dr. Sophia also uses an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on evidence-based treatments that are individualized to each client's needs and goals.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Sophia enjoys spending time with her two children and husband and indulges in sewing and crafting handmade items in her craft room.
